With the dozens of pain killers that are out there on the market, you might find that there are names you hear all the time and names that you don’t tend to hear that often. The question is why are some medications prescribed and why are others not prescribed? The answer is simple as the choice itself.

Lortab is one of the lesser prescribed medications on the market for pain. The properties of both Vicodin and Tylenol are high but there is a feeling from doctors that that much Vicodin should require a look into a different category of pain meds. A doctor must determine what medication is right for a patient and after a certain amount of the same medication it’s certain that it might not be working and, therefore, it might be best to move on to another pain med.

If you go in for any sort of surgery or suffering from pain, the likelihood of getting Vicodin HP is slim to none. There is nothing about the pain medication that is attractive to the doctor. At that point in the therapy, there is a likelihood that there has been previous medications that have not gone well which means that it’s more than likely that a higher grade of pain medicine is in order. Once again we are back at the determination of the doctor. They might find that your body is not doing well with the high amounts of Tylenol it’s getting or the high amounts of the pain medication. They might also determine that if you need something that high that it might be a severe chronic pain that will require a schedule II narcotic. There is no way to be sure the severity or frequency of your pain but a doctor must make his or her best judgment and these drugs are often not the right choice for your pain needs.
